Broker Responsibility Instructor Training: The Real 2027-2028 Schedule
Broker Responsibility Instructor Training: The Real 2027-2028 Schedule
Heard the Broker Responsibility instructor training is happening in July? It isn’t. July is when the registration website updates. The training itself runs in the fall.
I am David Offutt, founder of Texas Real Estate Academy. I have taught Texas real estate CE since 2014. This page sets the record straight for instructors and brokers heading into the 2027-2028 Broker Responsibility cycle.
How I know the schedule
I did not pick this up from a newsletter. I called in to my buddies in the education department at TREC. They asked me to help get the correct word out, so here it is.
For years this ran through Texas A&M
For years, this training ran through Texas A&M. TREC brought it in-house to take more control of the course and how it is taught. That decision has already paid off for instructors.
The proof: September, not October
Here is the proof. This cycle the sessions start in September. They used to start in October.
Getting trained that close to the end of the year always made us nervous, with the deadline bearing down. The current Broker Responsibility course expires December 31, 2026. Starting in September means we can finish on time, without the year-end scramble. Credit where it is due: thank you, TREC.
It is not just Austin
Do not let the registration page fool you. Right now it still shows the past spring sessions at UT Austin, so it can look Austin-only. It is not.
TREC travels the state for this training. Fort Worth at GFWAR is already confirmed, with more cities to post. Thank you, TREC, for bringing it to us instead of making everyone drive to Austin.
How the CE credit works
The credit works exactly the way you would expect. You earn elective CE for attending the training itself.
Then, once you teach the new Broker Responsibility course after January 1, 2027, you submit an instructor credit request in TREC’s REALM portal for the non-elective credit.
Register for the Broker Responsibility instructor training
You can go straight to TREC’s registration page with the link below. Registration opens mid-July.
Go to TREC’s Registration Page
We will keep this page current as the fall dates and the full city list post. For now, Fort Worth at GFWAR is the confirmed stop, and the rest are on the way. You can also watch TREC’s dates and locations page as new cities go live.
What is confirmed, and what is pending
TREC updates the registration site in mid-July, and the complete fall schedule lands then. Here is where things stand today.
| Confirmed location | Fort Worth — GFWAR |
| Training window | September through December 2026 |
| Registration opens | Mid-July 2026 |
| Additional cities | To be posted by TREC |
